Does GPT Image Allow NSFW? GPT Image 2 and 2.5 Rules, and What Refuses on SpicyHub AI
Not for explicit images. As of November 2026, OpenAI’s Model Spec (the version dated 29 October 2026) says its models should not generate erotica, in pictures as well as text and audio, outside specific contexts such as scientific, historical, news or artistic ones. OpenAI also writes that it is exploring how to allow erotica in age-appropriate contexts through ChatGPT and the API, which tells you it hasn’t done so yet.
On SpicyHub AI, GPT Image 2.5 and GPT Image 2 run behind OpenAI’s image filter and refuse adult content. For 18+ pictures, use Spicy UNCENSORED or Wan 2.7 Image, and keep GPT Image for what it does best: lettering.

Adults 18+ only. Every character you make has to be an adult: one you invented, or a real adult who agreed to it. Minors are never allowed, in any art style. The Terms of Service set out the full rules.

People asking whether GPT Image allows NSFW usually mean one of three places. Here is what applies in each, from OpenAI’s own documents as published on 6 November 2026:
| Where | What applies | Adult images? |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | OpenAI’s usage policies and Model Spec. The spec rules out erotica outside specific contexts and describes a grown-up mode only as something OpenAI is exploring. | No |
| The OpenAI API | Every prompt and generated image is filtered. A moderation setting offers “auto”, the default, or “low”, which OpenAI calls less restrictive filtering. Blocked requests can come back labelled with a category such as sexual. | Not explicit ones: “low” loosens the filter, it doesn’t remove it |
| SpicyHub AI | GPT Image 2 runs on OpenAI’s default (“auto”) filtering and GPT Image 2.5 on “low”, which still refuses explicit content; SpicyHub AI’s Terms keep adult content to the 18+ models. | No |
The same usage policies apply wherever OpenAI’s models run. The version published in October 2026, which takes effect on 20 November 2026, bans sexual violence and non-consensual intimate content, any sexualization of people under 18, and putting a real person’s face or voice into content without their consent where it could be taken as genuine. It also lists circumventing OpenAI’s safeguards as a breach.
GPT Image on SpicyHub AI: prices and refusals
GPT Image 2.5 comes in two versions at the same price: Flare for fast everyday work, Sunburst for edits that have to be exact. Each reference image adds 1 credit, up to 16. GPT Image 2, the previous generation, runs from 5 to 60 credits at 1K or 2K.
A refused prompt or upload fails with a note that GPT Image doesn’t allow adult content and a Switch to Spicy button, which reloads the same prompt and references in the Image Lab with Spicy UNCENSORED selected. The credits for the refused run go back to your balance. OpenAI filters the inputs as well as the prompt, so an adult reference picture is likely to be refused even with an innocent instruction such as “add a title”.
| Size | Low | Medium | High | Extra high | Max |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1K | 4 | 9 | 32 | 55 | 120 |
| 2K | 9 | 23 | 56 | 95 | 210 |
| 4K | 15 | 38 | 90 | 160 | 350 |
What GPT Image is still best for: words in the picture
GPT Image is built for lettering inside the picture, which makes it useful around an adult project even though it won’t render the adult parts. Typical jobs:
- Covers and title cards for a comic or a gallery, with the title, a subtitle and your pen name set cleanly.
- Speech bubbles and sound effects on a safe-for-work panel, or an empty bubble layout to letter later.
- A logo or banner for your original character’s series, at up to 4K.
- Promo art that stays safe for work, for the places where explicit images aren’t allowed.
A cover prompt to adapt: “Comic cover, anime style, the title ‘AFTER THE LANTERNS’ in bold brush lettering across the top, a silver-haired adult woman, late twenties, in a navy flight jacket, glancing back over her shoulder, night market glowing behind her, the author name ‘R. Kade’ small at the bottom.” Medium quality at 1K is enough to check the lettering before spending credits on a larger render.
Where to make the 18+ pictures instead
Two models in the Image Lab take adult work, and both stop at 2K:
- Spicy UNCENSORED, running on Seedream 5.0 Pro: 1K for 8 credits, 2K for 12, up to 10 reference images, shapes from a tall 1:2 to a wide 21:9. The pick for finished pictures and for edits that draw on several uploads.
- Wan 2.7 Image: 6 credits a picture, up to 9 reference images, and it keeps the composition of what you upload. The pick for drafts and for edits that mustn’t move the layout.
A split that works for a comic: letter the cover on GPT Image 2.5, make the interior pages on the 18+ models, and add any lettering inside those pages in your own image editor, since GPT Image won’t take the adult pages as references.
For the prompts and model sheets behind those pages, the adult anime image guide goes step by step.
Questions people ask
Does ChatGPT allow NSFW images?
No. As of November 2026, OpenAI’s Model Spec rules out erotica in pictures as well as text, apart from specific contexts such as artistic, historical or news use, and still describes adult content for grown-ups as something OpenAI is exploring. Requests for explicit images are refused.
Does GPT Image 2.5 allow more than GPT Image 2?
Not for adult work. Both follow the same OpenAI policies and refuse explicit images, even though SpicyHub AI runs GPT Image 2.5 on the less strict “low” moderation setting and GPT Image 2 on the default. GPT Image 2.5 adds 4K output and two higher quality steps, and costs from 4 credits at 1K on low quality.
What does OpenAI’s “low” moderation setting do?
It makes the API’s image filter less strict than the default “auto”. OpenAI doesn’t present it as an adult setting, and its usage policies and Model Spec still apply. SpicyHub AI runs GPT Image 2 on the default and GPT Image 2.5 on “low”, which cuts false refusals on safe-for-work art but still refuses explicit content.
Can GPT Image add text to my adult image?
Usually not. OpenAI filters uploads as well as prompts, so an explicit reference image is likely to be refused even with a harmless instruction. Letter adult pages in an image editor instead, and use GPT Image for the safe-for-work cover.
What should I use instead of GPT Image for 18+ images?
Spicy UNCENSORED (1K: 8 credits, 2K: 12) for finished pictures and edits, and Wan 2.7 Image (6 credits) for drafts. Which AI models allow NSFW compares every model in the studio.
Is a refused GPT Image run charged?
No. It fails, and the credits are returned to your balance automatically.
SpicyHub AI’s 18+ rules in brief
- You need to be an adult under your own country’s law, never under 18, and the content has to be legal where you are.
- Every character is an adult, both by stated age and by how they look. Drawn and animated characters follow the same rule as photos.
- No sexual content involving a minor or a character who could pass for one. Accounts that try are closed and reported to the authorities.
- A recognizable real person appears only with their documented consent. That rules out celebrities, creators, coworkers and former partners. In a character swap, no real person goes in as the character, you included.
- No sexual violence, no lack of consent and no bestiality, even as fiction.
- Existing characters from anime, manga, games and film are someone else’s property, so create your own.
- Your results stay private to your account until you share them. What you post elsewhere is yours to answer for, under the law and that site’s rules.
SpicyHub AI doesn’t share ways around OpenAI’s filter, which OpenAI’s usage policies forbid. For adult pictures, use Spicy UNCENSORED or Wan 2.7 Image.
A short version only. The binding rules are in the Terms of Service.
