Anime Lip Sync AI: Give Your Character a Voice From an MP3

Spicy Lip Sync works from two files: a still of your character’s face and an MP3 no longer than 60 seconds. What comes back is a video in which the mouth moves with the recording. You bring the voice, so every word is exactly what you recorded or licensed, and an optional prompt nudges the expression and mood.

Now the honest part. The model behind it was made for talking-head video of people: its documentation talks about animating “the person” and says nothing about drawn characters, and we have not benchmarked it on anime faces. Semi-realistic faces and clearly drawn mouths give it the best chance; small or very simplified mouths may barely move, or move oddly. Spend 50 credits on a 5-second Standard test before you pay for a long Pro render.

Making your character talk

  1. Prepare a clean face image

Front-facing or a slight three-quarter view, the mouth fully visible and closed or slightly open, head and shoulders filling most of the frame. Keep hair, hands and props clear of the mouth. Accepted: JPEG, PNG, GIF and WebP files of 50 MB or less.

  2. Trim the audio

MP3 only, up to 60 seconds and 25 MB. Billing counts seconds of audio, rounded up, so cut the silence at both ends; anything shorter than 5 seconds is billed as 5.

  3. Pick Standard or Pro, keep the prompt short

Standard renders 480p at 10 credits a second, Pro 720p at 18. The prompt is optional, and the model’s documentation recommends short prompts in English, so try something like “calm smile, small nods, soft studio light”.

  4. Test 5 seconds, then go long

Run a 5-second line on Standard and watch the mouth closely. If it tracks, render the full take; if not, try a different face image before spending more. The price shows before you start, failed runs are refunded, and Reuse Input keeps the same image and audio for another go.

Two quality levels, and an alternative

  • Spicy Lip Sync Standard

480p at 10 credits a second. Use it for every test, and for clips you plan to upscale afterwards.

  • Spicy Lip Sync Pro

720p at 18 credits a second, for the final take once a Standard test has shown that your character’s face works.

  • Seedance 2.5 (Video Lab)

No recording yet? Seedance 2.5 animates a character with sound switched on by default, in clips of up to 30 seconds. If the lines are already recorded, Lip Sync is the tool that fits the mouth to them.

Prices for every model are on AI Models.

Faces that give lip sync the best chance

  • Front-facing or a slight three-quarter turn. Profiles, and faces tilted far up or down, leave the model less mouth to work with.
  • A mouth that is actually drawn: lips or a clear mouth shape, closed or slightly open. A single short stroke, or no mouth at all, leaves little to animate.
  • Nothing over the mouth: no hand, fan, mask, cup or strand of hair crossing it.
  • A large face in the frame. Crop to head and shoulders instead of sending a full-body sheet.
  • Your own original character, or a face you have permission to use. Characters from someone else’s franchise are not yours to put words into.

What it costs

You pay for the length of the audio, rounded up to the next second, with 5 seconds as the minimum.

  • 5 seconds: 50 credits on Standard, 90 on Pro.
  • 30 seconds: 300 on Standard, 540 on Pro.
  • 60 seconds: 600 on Standard, 1,080 on Pro.
  • During the beta a new account gets 50 free credits, enough for the 5-second Standard test run this guide suggests (50 credits). More credits come with the plans on Pricing once payments open.

Whose voice it is

Use a voice you have the rights to: your own, a voice actor who has agreed to this use, or text-to-speech whose licence allows it. Do not imitate a real person’s voice without their consent, and do not make a real person appear to say anything. A face and a voice that are yours, fictional or licensed keep you within the Terms.

Pairing it with other tools

  • Lip Sync starts from a still image, so it cannot re-voice a clip made in Character Swap. Make the talking shot here and the movement shot there, then cut them together in your editor.
  • Standard comes out at 480p. If your clip runs 3 to 15 seconds, Video Upscale can take it to 1080p for 16 credits.
  • Need a better face image first? Make or tidy one in the Image Lab on a plain background, with the mouth clearly drawn.

Guides

  • Image Lab — draw a front-facing face to animate
  • Character Swap — body movement from a reference clip
  • Video Upscale — short Standard clips up to 1080p, 2K or 4K
  • Video Lab — animate a character with sound, no recording needed

Anime Lip Sync FAQ

How long can the audio be?

Up to 60 seconds and 25 MB, as an MP3. Longer script? Break it into lines at the pauses and run each one from the same face image.

Which languages work?

There is no language setting: the mouth follows the sound of the recording, not a transcript. We have not measured accuracy language by language, so test a short line in the language you need.

Can I use text-to-speech instead of my own voice?

Yes, as long as the text-to-speech service’s licence allows this use. The same goes for a voice actor: get their agreement for this particular use. Never use a cloned copy of a real person’s voice without their consent.

What does 30 seconds cost?

300 credits on Standard or 540 on Pro. The exact figure shows before you generate.

Will it work on my character’s art style?

We cannot promise it. The model was made for portraits of people and we have not benchmarked anime faces, so the reliable answer is a 5-second Standard test with your own image. Front-facing faces with a clearly drawn mouth are the best bet.

Can I use the clip commercially?

Under the Terms what you generate is yours within the model licences. Checking the rights to the face image and the audio is up to you.

What happens to my image and audio?

Two parties handle them: SpicyHub AI and the outside company hosting the model. Uploads stay in your account’s storage so you can reuse them, and may help improve the service; unless you opt out by emailing [email protected], results that are not 18+ may also be used for marketing. Deleting your account erases your files, and support will remove individual ones on request. More in the Privacy Policy.
