Adults only (18+)

Does Nano Banana Allow NSFW? What Google's Filter Blocks and Where 18+ Work Goes Instead

No. As of November 2026, all three current Nano Banana versions (2.1, 2 and Pro) fall under Google’s Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy, which rules out sexually explicit content made for sexual gratification. Google keeps the right to make exceptions for educational, documentary, scientific or artistic work, but that is Google’s decision, not a setting: no plan, no Pro tier and no way of wording a prompt turns it on.

On SpicyHub AI, adult pictures go to the two 18+ image models, Spicy UNCENSORED and Wan 2.7 Image. Nano Banana still earns its place in an adult project, though: it is a strong tool for the safe-for-work half, such as designing an adult original character before you make the 18+ finals elsewhere.

SpicyHub AI is an independent service with no ties to the companies or products this page names; those names are trademarks of their owners.

Adults 18+ only. Every character you make has to be an adult: one you invented, or a real adult who agreed to it. Minors are never allowed, in any art style. The Terms of Service set out the full rules.

What Google’s rules say, checked November 2026

Google publishes one policy for all of its generative AI, and its developer guide for Nano Banana points to it. Read on 6 November 2026 (Google last changed it on 17 December 2024), it says you may not use the models for, among other things:

  • Sexually explicit content, which the policy describes as material made for sexual gratification.
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery of anyone.
  • Anything relating to child sexual abuse or exploitation.
  • Getting around abuse protections or safety filters, including steering the model into breaking the policy.
  • Impersonating a real person without disclosure, in order to deceive.

Two more details from Google’s developer documentation matter here. Every image Nano Banana generates carries SynthID, Google’s invisible watermark that marks it as AI-made. And while the Gemini API lets developers loosen some safety filters, the protections for child safety can’t be adjusted at all, and loosening a filter doesn’t change what the policy allows.

What happens when you try it on SpicyHub AI

There is no NSFW toggle for Nano Banana here, because there is nothing for one to switch: the filter belongs to Google. Send an explicit prompt, or an upload Google reads as sexual, and the run fails. The failed result says Nano Banana doesn’t allow adult content and offers a Switch to Spicy button, which loads the same prompt and reference images into the Image Lab with Spicy UNCENSORED selected. The credits for the refused run go back to your balance automatically.

Requests that are only suggestive can fail too. The filter judges the whole request, wording and uploads together, so the same mild prompt can pass with one picture and be refused with another, especially when the upload is a photo of a real person.

For the work Nano Banana does accept, here is what each version costs:

Where Nano Banana still helps an adult project

Most adult series have a safe-for-work layer: the character design, the wardrobe, the locations, the cover. That layer is where Nano Banana is worth its credits.

  • Turnaround sheets. Your adult original character seen from the front, the side and behind, built up from as many as 14 reference images.
  • Outfits and props. Iterate on a jacket, a hairpin or a tattoo until the details are settled, then reuse the picture as a reference later.
  • Empty locations. Rooms, streets and landscapes with nobody in them, ready for an 18+ model to place your character into.
  • 4K artwork. The 18+ image models stop at 2K; Nano Banana 2.1 and Pro render 4K for covers, banners and promo art that stay safe for work.
  • Lettering. Nano Banana Pro is made for small text and dense graphics, handy for a title card or a logo.

The handoff: design on Nano Banana, finish on an 18+ model

This route keeps one character consistent across both halves of a project. Every price is what the Image Lab charges:

  1. Open Nano Banana 2.1 and design the character fully clothed. For example: “Character turnaround sheet of an original adult woman, about 28, anime cel shading, silver bob with blunt bangs, amber eyes, a thin scar through her left eyebrow, cropped navy flight jacket over a black turtleneck, front, side and back views, flat grey background.” A 2K sheet costs 12 credits.
  2. Download the sheet you like best. If the face drifts between views, change one detail per run instead of rewriting the whole prompt.
  3. Open Spicy UNCENSORED; picking it puts the Image Lab in Spicy mode. Upload the sheet, which becomes Figure 1.
  4. Write the 18+ scene and point back at the sheet: “The woman from Figure 1, an adult in her late twenties, same silver bob, amber eyes and eyebrow scar, anime illustration, lounging on rumpled silk sheets in a lantern-lit inn room at night, indigo robe falling open, confident half-smile, warm rim light, clean line art.”
  5. Explore poses with cheap drafts on Wan 2.7 Image, 6 credits a run. When one works, redo it on Spicy UNCENSORED at 2K, which costs 12.

One sheet, 4 drafts and 2 finals at 2K come to 60 credits in all. Keep the hair, eye and scar wording identical in every prompt; it does more for consistency than any single setting.

Want the character to move? A finished still makes the first frame of an 18+ clip, and the guide to animating adult anime picks it up from there.

Why workaround prompts are a dead end

Search for Nano Banana and NSFW and you will find so-called prompt tricks. Google’s policy names the problem directly, because getting around its safety filters is itself listed as a breach. A trick that slips through today is the kind of gap a filter update closes, and every attempt costs you time.

SpicyHub AI doesn’t share or support those tricks. The artistic exception in Google’s policy is Google’s to grant case by case, not a keyword for a prompt. For adult work, the 18+ models do the job without any of it.

Questions people ask

Is there an NSFW setting for Nano Banana?

No. The Gemini API lets developers loosen some safety filters, but that doesn’t change Google’s Prohibited Use Policy, under which sexually explicit content stays off limits. SpicyHub AI has no NSFW switch for Nano Banana either. Adult pictures go to Spicy UNCENSORED or Wan 2.7 Image.

Does Nano Banana Pro allow more than Nano Banana 2.1?

No. Pro, 2.1 and 2 sit under the same Google policy. Pro is the version for small text and dense graphics, not for looser rules: the extra credits buy detail, not permission.

Why was my swimwear edit blocked?

Because the filter weighs the whole request: the words, the uploaded picture and what the edit would produce. Putting less clothing on a photo of a real person is exactly the pattern rules on intimate imagery are written for, so it can be refused even with mild wording. SpicyHub AI doesn’t allow that edit on any model, the 18+ ones included: those are for adult characters you invent.

Can I edit an adult image with Nano Banana?

Usually not. Google checks uploads as well as prompts, so an explicit picture is likely to be refused even with a harmless instruction such as “change the background”. Make that edit on Spicy UNCENSORED, which takes up to 10 reference images, or on Wan 2.7 Image, which keeps the original layout.

What should I use instead of Nano Banana for 18+ images?

Spicy UNCENSORED for finished pictures and edits, at 8 credits in 1K or 12 in 2K, and Wan 2.7 Image for cheap drafts at 6 credits. Both stop at 2K. Which AI models allow NSFW lists every model in the studio side by side.

Do I lose credits when Nano Banana refuses?

No. A refused run fails, and its credits are returned to your balance automatically.

SpicyHub AI’s 18+ rules in brief

  • You need to be an adult under your own country’s law, never under 18, and the content has to be legal where you are.
  • Every character is an adult, both by stated age and by how they look. Drawn and animated characters follow the same rule as photos.
  • No sexual content involving a minor or a character who could pass for one. Accounts that try are closed and reported to the authorities.
  • A recognizable real person appears only with their documented consent. That rules out celebrities, creators, coworkers and former partners. In a character swap, no real person goes in as the character, you included.
  • No sexual violence, no lack of consent and no bestiality, even as fiction.
  • Existing characters from anime, manga, games and film are someone else’s property, so create your own.
  • Your results stay private to your account until you share them. What you post elsewhere is yours to answer for, under the law and that site’s rules.

SpicyHub AI doesn’t share ways around Google’s filter. For adult pictures, use Spicy UNCENSORED or Wan 2.7 Image.

A short version only. The binding rules are in the Terms of Service.

During the beta, signing up adds 50 free credits that work on any model: 8 drafts on Wan 2.7 Image, say, or a 480p clip with sound up to 6 seconds long. Room to test a character before you decide anything.
